The Peruvian opal is a relatively rare stone found only in the Andes of Peru, which is why it is also known as Opal of the Andes. Its composition is essentially composed of oxygen, silicon and hydrogen.

Most of the Peruvian opals (semi-opaque to opaque) are green and pink, but there are more rare blue ones from the mountains near San Patricio.

This stone is translucent and has a color similar to the Caribbean Sea; It is also the national stone of the country and is considered by locals as a gift from Pachamama (fertile goddess of Mother Earth).
