Victorian Sea Glass Bubble Bracelet on Leather
Somewhere on a beach in northern England, the ocean spent a century shaping this piece of glass. Now it lives on your wrist.
This bracelet carries a single genuine sea glass bubble from Seaham, County Durham, a fragment of Victorian or Edwardian glass produced between 1853 and the early 1920s at the Candlish Bottleworks, a factory built on the cliffs above the North Sea. When production ended, the remnants were cast over the cliffs into the water. Over a century of waves tumbled, frosted, and polished them into the soft, luminous forms that wash ashore today at the only beach on earth where this glass can be found.
Each bubble is unique. The shape, the translucence, the way it holds light, all of it was decided by the ocean over a hundred years. No machine could replicate this surface. No glassmaker could recreate this patience.
The bubble is mounted on premium kangaroo leather with traditional sailor knots, hand rolled in our workshop. A single gray Tahitian cultured pearl, 9.5mm, oval, grade B/C, serves as the clasp. Its quiet luster complements the frosted surface of the glass without competing with it. No metal hardware. Just glass, pearl, and leather.
At $180, this is the most accessible piece in the Trésors de St Barth collection and one of the most meaningful. You are not buying a bracelet. You are carrying a piece of glass that is older than anyone alive today, shaped by forces that took longer than a human lifetime to do their work.
When the supply of genuine Seaham sea glass is gone, it is gone forever. No factory will reopen. No century of waves will start again.
Made to order. Each bracelet is assembled from a hand selected sea glass bubble, so expect natural variations in size, shape, and translucence that make your piece unlike any other.
