Victorian Sea Glass Cluster Necklace
A century of ocean, gathered in your hands. This Victorian Sea Glass Grape Cluster Necklace brings together eleven pieces of genuine ancient sea glass each one between 90 and 160 years old, collected from the only beach in the world where this quality of glass exists hand-knotted on premium kangaroo leather using traditional sailors knots.
Eleven pieces of history. Zero pieces alike. All yours.
The sea glass in this necklace originates from the Candlish Bottleworks glass foundry, built on the cliffs of Seaham, County Durham, Northern England in 1853. The factory produced an extraordinary range of colored glass using Selenium, Arsenic, and Gold before closing in the early 1920s. Glass remnants were thrown into the sea, where over a century of waves slowly polished them into the smooth, frosted treasures you see today.
This quality of sea glass exists on only one beach in the entire world.
Each piece is individually drilled and hand-knotted on supple kangaroo leather in a cascading grape cluster organic, tactile, and quietly magnificent. The eleventh bubble serves as the clasp, making the necklace fully adjustable from a long sautoir to a close-fitting crew neck worn differently every day, treasured forever.
A piece this rare doesn't wait. Neither should you.
