Lapis Lazuli Pendant Necklace with 18K Gold
A piece of the night sky, hanging from a cord of leather. The ancients were not wrong about this stone.
This pendant begins with a block of raw lapis lazuli, cut, sculpted, and polished for hours in our workshop until the deep blue emerges in its full intensity. The surface reveals the unique internal architecture of each stone, its veining, its depth of blue, the tiny flecks of golden pyrite that the ancients mistook for stars embedded in a fragment of heaven. No two stones carry the same design. No two pendants will ever look the same.
Above the stone sits a single 18K solid gold bead, hand sculpted and cast to echo the organic shape of a cultured pearl. The gold is not decorative. It is the bridge between the blue of the stone and the dark luster of the pearl above it, three materials meeting at the center of the necklace, each one pulling light in its own direction.
The cord is premium kangaroo leather, braided by hand, supple and resistant. It closes with a Tahitian black pearl, 9 to 10mm, semi baroque, grade B. The dark overtone of the pearl against the electric blue of the lapis and the warm yellow of the gold creates a palette that is rich without being loud.
The necklace hangs approximately 18 to 20 inches from end to end, falling at mid chest. Long enough to sit over a shirt, short enough to command attention against bare skin.
The lapidary work is what sets this pendant apart. This is not a commercially sourced cabochon set in a manufactured bezel. This is a stone cut from raw material, curved to sit comfortably against the body, polished to reveal every layer of its natural composition, and mounted on leather with the same care given to every piece in the collection. The gold bead beside it was sculpted and cast by the same pair of hands.
At $750, this pendant carries genuine lapis lazuli, solid 18K gold, and a Tahitian pearl on premium leather. Three rare materials shaped entirely by hand, worn as a single piece.
Made to order. Each necklace is assembled from a hand selected lapis lazuli stone, so expect natural variations in shape, shade of blue, and pyrite distribution.
