Blue Crystal Heart Sautoir Necklace

This heart was not blown. Not molded. It was carved from a solid block of crystal glass cut, shaped, and polished by hand for hours until the surface became perfectly smooth and the deep blue interior began to glow from within. Crystal glass has a higher concentration of metal oxides than ordinary glass, which gives it a refractive index and brilliance that no other material can match. When sunlight passes through this heart, it becomes a piece of the ocean you can hold.
Each one is sculpted individually. No two hearts are alike.
Three solid 18K gold beads sculpted in wax, cast, and polished in our workshop sit directly above the heart on the braided kangaroo leather. They are heavy, generous, and warm against the cool translucence of the glass. The contrast between the two materials is what gives this necklace its presence: something that catches light from below and catches it again from above.
This is a sautoir a long necklace designed to be slipped over the head with no clasp. The heart falls near the diaphragm, low enough to sit against the body and move with you. The braided kangaroo leather is hand-rolled from the thickest skins available supple, strong, and built to develop a rich patina over time.
Also available in other colors on request but blue is the original, the one that started it all, and the one that disappears into the Caribbean horizon.
